Abstract

The aim of this paper is to indicate a set of intellectual productions on the use of the History of Mathematics (HM) in mathematics education (ME), in Portuguese and English. To this end, we propose an analysis of 16 texts, 7 in Portuguese and 9 in English, using a qualitative methodology, with bibliographic procedures, which is characterized by the investigation of works already produced on the subject (such as articles, theses, magazines, among others). As a result, we gathered the main data for each work (title, authors, year of publication and access link). In addition, we briefly discuss each of them, highlighting their main reflections, as well as identifying the advantages and challenges of using the History of Mathematics in mathematics teaching present in the texts and their intersections. The History of Mathematics can be a crucial element for more meaningful and contextualized learning, but continuous research is needed to improve educational strategies and identify challenges to be overcome.

Giselle Costa de Sousa, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN

Possui graduação em Matemática - licenciatura e bacharelado - pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte . Além disso, Mestrado e Doutorado em Educação pela mesma instituição, na linha de pesquisa em Educação Matemática. Concluiu o curso de técnico em Estradas pela ETFRN, hoje IFRN. Atualmente é professora associada do Departamento de Matemática e vice coordenadora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ensino de Ciências Naturais e Matemática (PPGECM) da UFRN. Tem experiência na área de Matemática, com ênfase em Educação Matemática, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Aliança entre História da Matemática e Tecnologias Digitais, História da Matemática, Tecnologias, GeoGebra, Cálculo, Lógica e George Boole. Atuou como professora convidada no Instituto de Formação Superior Presidente Kennedy - IFESP (RN). Foi professora da rede básica de ensino do município de Natal (RN), do município de São Gonçalo do Amarante (RN) e da rede privada de ensino de Natal. Foi coordenadora do PIBID de Matemática da UFRN/Natal. É docente orientadora da Residência Pedagógica de Matemática Natal/UFRN.

Vitória Lima Quaresma, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN

Graduanda do curso de Licenciatura em Matemática na UFRN, pesquisadora na área de história da matemática e tecnologias digitais na educação, além de bolsista do Programa de Educação Tutorial (PET). Tem experiência na área de Matemática, com ênfase em Educação Matemática, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: tecnologias digitais, história em quadrinhos, história da matemática islâmica medieval, al-biruni e mapa mental.
