The history of brazilian education and its importance for mathematics teachers interviewed at a CEJA in the city of Fortaleza

This article aims to present a brief history of Brazilian education and show the opinions of some mathematics teachers on the importance of Brazilian educational history for teaching practice. The study is qualitative in nature, characterized as a case study based on the analysis of interviews with four mathematics teachers, including both permanent and temporary staff, who responded regarding the importance of the history of Brazilian education. Among the results obtained concerning the historical study of education, the responses from the interviews highlight the complexity existing between the history of education and teaching practice. In general, the study points out that the study of Brazilian education is essential for educators, especially those graduated in mathematics. Despite advancements in education, there is still much to be improved, such as the development of a more conscious and contextualized practice. In conclusion, it is of utmost importance to invest in this area, both for research and for enhancing teaching effectiveness.
