This article aims to discuss possibilities for assessing reading and writing in the literacy cycle based on rule games. Therefore, there was a documentary research, from which the focus of analysis was the planning of two teachers, active in the early years of Elementary School, who used in their pedagogical practice the games of rules for the purpose of evaluation, seeking to analyze which uses of these resources, as well as possible contributions to the children's learning process. The results indicate that the games are relevant resources for the evaluation of students, in addition to the attribution of labels and classifications. Thus, it is evident the importance of the teacher to understand its effectiveness as one of the possible resources, as well as the necessary interventions during its use. The need for more specific investigations on the topic is also emphasized, especially in the context of literacy.
