TTelensino as a path to education in Ceará: a historical and pedagogical analysis

Abstract

The article analyzes Telensino as an innovative educational alternative implemented in Ceará in the 1970s, with the aim of expanding access to primary education and mitigating the shortage of qualified teachers in remote regions. The objective of the research is to investigate the implementation of Telensino in Ceará, highlighting its pedagogical proposal, its role in expanding access to education, and its impact on the education of students, especially those located in areas that are difficult to access. Through a documentary analysis based on laws, opinions of the State Board of Education, institutional reports, among other documents, the study contributes to the appreciation of the educational memory of Ceará and encourages reflections on the adaptation of technology-mediated educational models in the current context. In addition, it shows that this was a pioneering experience in tele-education, using television as the main teaching tool. The Telensino experience in Ceará demonstrated the feasibility of using television as an educational medium, allowing for expanded access to elementary education and promoting an innovative pedagogical approach. Despite limitations, such as the lack of direct interaction between students and teachers and the need for greater depth of content, the program played a fundamental role in bringing education to the interior of the state.
