Education in Pernambuco underwent a series of transformations between the 19th and 20th centuries. Among the various curricula, curricular proposals and teaching programs drawn up in the 1970s, the “Teaching Curricular Proposal – 1st Degree” (1974) stood out for being the first curricular document published at state level (unlike national documents). In this study, the focus will be on Volume III - Sciences, with attention to the area of Mathematics, especially in the algebra part. As theoretical support, we will use the Theory of Objectification (OT), in order to understand the contexts in which this document was created and considering it as a cultural artifact that responds to the social demands of its time. Through this historical dive, this study brings to light the content of the curricular proposal as well as providing a first understanding of the possible personal and political influences of the time, that is, the people, discourses and practices involved in the process of preparing this document curriculum.
