In this volume of the journal 'Linguagem em Foco', we disclose this dossier, which is aimed at mother tongue and foreign language teachers, and also to researchers in the field of Teaching in general. It contains 8 articles and an interview, resulting from studies involving the modalities of Accessible Audiovisual Translation aimed at teaching. The modalities are: Subtitling for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Audio Description and Audiovisual Translation and Interpretation in Sign Language. They are, therefore, theoretical discussions applied to issues of accessibility in Brazilian Education. The texts are divided into: 8 articles by researchers who come from several Brazilian universities; an interview with the coordinator of the Translation and Accessibility research group, Professor Doctor Manoela Silva, from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). As the Accessible Audiovisual Translation is an area of study that seeks to promote accessibility for viewers with sensory impairments to the various existing audiovisual products, this dossier brings a series of discussions on how the Accessible Audiovisual Translation modalities can function as a promising tool for teaching and learning. Thus, the focus of the dossier is the relationship between the referred modalities and the following subjects: teacher training, curriculum, Basic Education, pedagogical practices, reading and comprehension, mother tongue and foreign language teaching.
