THE CARNIVAL OF CASCAVEL-CE

A READING OF THE TOURIST-CULTURAL DYNAMICS IN THE FESTIVE LANDSCAPE

Abstract

Carnival is one of the most important festivals in Brazil and its composition reverberates various processes in the development of society and geographical space. In contemporary times, the carnival festival is understood as a producer and influencer in the constitution of tourist-cultural dynamics and in the construction of festive landscapes. With this in mind, this paper proposes a reading of the perception of the participants in the 2024 Carnival in Cascavel-CE, as well as observing the event in its tourist potential associated with the marks of traditionality and transformations of the festival. Therefore, this study used methodological procedures and contributions from the cultural-humanist perspective, combining qualitative studies with quantitative delimitation exercises, centered on observation and data collection in the field. The research identified the traces of touristification in the development of culture, spaces, manifestations and social relations in Cascavel's carnival space-time.
