Abstract

The consideration of the Brazilian State in the Favela Nova Brasília
case at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights highlighted the need for debate on the role of the police (military and civil). Through a qualitative approach, the case
is analyzed in the light of Agamben’s concepts of  tanatopolitics, Foucault’s
biopolitics, Butler’s precarious lives, and Mbembe’s necropolitics.
