This article aims to examine some dilemmas that the emergence of a new Right has presented to today´s world and to the social sciences. For this purpose a reassessment of Karl Mannheim´s work is undertaken, particularly his insistence in considering all points of view and the role of an intelligentsia. Some considerations made by Spinoza are taken as a complement to this line of reasoning, together with subsidies from the work of the anthropologist Tim Ingold and the novelist Orhan Pamuk.
