Abstract

This study is part of the doctoral research in Education in Biosciences and Health and considers the possible cultural and historical influences on the scientific training of young students through the Sakura Science program, organized by the Japan Science and Technology Agency for foreign high school students. The focus is on the 2024 edition, which addressed the sustainability of historical cities and their resilience to natural disasters, with the participation of two students and two Peruvian supervisors. The research investigates whether and how cultural and historical aspects influence the scientific concepts practiced in the program. An observational methodology was used, and the results were analyzed through references from Science Education, Sociology, and History of Science. The study identifies the relevance of cultural and historical aspects that shape the meanings of scientific practices.
