This article analyzes the intrinsic relationship between Africa’s underdevelopment and the capitalist political economy. I argue that the
reason why Africa is poor is due to the drain of its wealth by the world economic system and all the attention the continent has been attracting on the last few years. Debt relief initiatives, poverty fight campaigns and aid concerts play a key role on masking this fundamental relationship.
