The taxonomy of knowledge areas adopted by public agencies is no longer according to the tendencies of Brazilian scientific and technological development. Its actualization must comprehend conceptual revisions, new hierarchical arrangements and the recognition of emergent areas, among them “Defense and Security”. This is an initiative which concerns the nationalities, the State, the democratic regime and specialized researchers.
