Abstract

This is a reflection about the tensions and controversies on the founding principles of the idea of nation, through a comparison between the processes of nationalities formation in two countries of the African continent, Cape Verde and Guine-Bissau. The article focus on the diverse forms which both nations duel with the elements that stand, or at least they argue to stand, their developing nationalities, mostly in the post colonial period, or, said in a different way, since the independence wars that occurred in the 70’s until today.
