The author presents a comparative study of the three main Latin American economies in the face of the international crisis. In the first part, he explains those countries’ disadvantages in relation to Asian economies. In the second, he analyses the effects of financial globalization on the regimes of growth, and its weakness in terms of volatility and exacerbated sensibility to capital movements. In the third part, he discusses the efficacy of anti-cyclic measures, as well as the importance of the “deficits of rationality” and of “legitimacy” in different countries.
