Mental health of women victims of obstetric violence in brazilian hospitals

The study aimed to analyze the impacts of obstetric violence on the mental health of women treated in Brazilian hospitals. This is a study developed through an integrative review. The searches were carried out in the LILACS, SciELO and PubMed databases. For the selection of articles, the following inclusion criteria were applied: pregnant women in labor, postpartum and puerperium who were over 18 years old, who dealt with institutional obstetric violence committed by health professionals in the Brazilian context, and who dealt with of the psychological complications that could arise from this violence. After selection and analysis of the articles, three thematic categories emerged, namely: I) quality of birth care, II) women's experiences and III) relationship between obstetric violence and psychological aspects. The study brought to light the scarcity of publications on the topic and the routine practices of obstetric violence in hospitals, in addition to the impacts on women's mental health that this violence causes.
