This paper is part of the set of criticisms of traditional sociological theory, focusing, however, on criticism of the androcentric dimension of the canon. The aim is to shed light on the ideas presented in the book How to Observe: Moral and Manners, by Harriet Martineu, and thereby demonstrate the relevance of her reflections not only for the historical period in which they were produced, but also for the sociological theory taught today.
