The Frontline States (FLS) emerged as a strategy to confront segregationist regimes in Southern Africa. This article discusses events between 1975 and 1980 in the region based on the theory of regionalism and uses a qualitative, descriptive approach with analysis of documents from primary and secondary sources. It is concluded that the ELF was important regarding impact, credibility and achieving objectives.
