Abstract

The article analyzes the political thinking of the Brazilian Army, identifying, contextualizing, and questioning the presence of a
conservative culturalist ideology
in the analysis of Brazilian society.
Discussions about the imagination,
traditions and participation of the
military in national history are resumed, demonstrating the existence of a mentality that interprets the Brazilian past and guides certain contemporary political behaviors.

Author Biography

Wallace da Silva Mello, UENF

Licenciado em História (UNIFSJ-2009), Especialista em Política Brasileira (UNIFSJ-2010), Mestre em Sociologia Política (UENF-2019), Doutorando em Sociologia Política (UENF-em andamento). Professor de História da Secretaria Estadual de Educação do Rio de Janeiro em Bom Jesus do Itabapoana e Cambuci, no Noroeste Fluminense.

Na graduação teve contato com o tema das Forças Armadas e política no Brasil, mas realizou monografia sobre o pensamento político de Oliveira Vianna. No curso de especialização, realizou estudo sobre as Forças Armadas Brasileiras na Nova República. Agora no doutorado, desenvolve pesquisa sobre democracia e política no pensamento político dos oficiais do Exército Brasileiro.
