Abstract

The post Cold War period asked for multidimensional peace operations, focused on the resolution of intrastate conflicts and the implementation of political agreements between the parties, including state reconstruction. In this article I discuss the institutionalization of a normative framework for the UN multidimensional peace operations in the fields of human rights, civilian police and electoral assistance. The role of the UN bureaucracy in this process will be emphasized.
