This work approaches the obstacles to State construction in Guinea- Bissau and takes as its point of departure the political regime installed in 1974. The analysis concentrates on the transition of power from the colonial regime to the PAIGC (African Party for the Independence of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde), which at the time represented Guinean-Cape Verdian aspirations.
