Abstract

This paper discuss the repercussions of the tragedy occurred in 2011, in the municipality of Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro. The storm had not only material impacts, but also symbolic. New issues were incorporated to the public debate and mobilized the parts in conflict on municipal politics.
