This article aims to analyze the classification of Guinea-Bissau, west African country, as a particular type of fragile state: the first African "Narco-State". The text consists of a bibliographic and documentary review that describes and analyzes the explanatory framework provided by the concepts of fragile state, failed state, parallel state, and narco-state in the scope of International Relations, Sociology and Political Science.
