Keywords:
Authoritarianism, Populism, Jair BolsonaroAbstract
Starting from the expressions
of contemporary authoritarian populism, this article analyzes a set of speeches made by Jair Bolsonaro, during acts of support to his government, in the year 2020. With
this, it is aimed to understand the nuances of an authoritarian culture as a foundation legitimizing the president’s speech to a portion of the population that, mobilizing
itself against democratic institutions,
believes itself to be authentically
democratic and representative of the interests of the “Brazilian people”.
