This is an exploratory study about the cultural politics of the Russian State and how the traditional patrimonialism is transformed and adapted to the conditions of the Post-soviet era. The Chechenia case, considered representative of the complex pattern of relations between Moscow and other countries in the regions, illustrates the power system consolidated by Putin since 2000 when he became president.
