sterilization in Puerto Rico

This article investigates the relation between women sterilizations in Puerto Rico, as a mecanism of populational control, and the economics necessities dictated by the U.S. imperialism on the island, after all, the massification of the sterilizations occurred at the same time as the industrial development patrocinated by the U.S, from 1947. Besides, we’ve pointed the role of the eugenics and neomaltushians conceptions as ideologies that guided the process.
