The central-periphery relationship that Central America embodies in its geopolitical condition does not arise from an essence, or from a particular position in a supposedly linear temporal trajectory; its subaltern condition, as an entire geographic region and not only as a social subject represents in the globalized world, the periphery that gives center to the center. It is a semantic paradox that gives meaning to the very logic of global political economy. In this text we present some visions about ‘centroamericanidad’, about its regional identity, by expanding the category of lumpemproletariado to this geography, this social, historical and symbolic space; subaltern and transformative, therefore, that Central America as a region denotes.
