VANTAGENS E DESAFIOS DA DIETA LOW CARB PARA A SAÚDE E CONTROLE DE PESO: UMA REVISÃO.

A Dieta Low Carb é uma alternativa a outras dietas convencionais na perda de peso, possuindo variados efeitos positivos na saúde. Todavia, ainda não há unanimidade dentro da comunidade científica sobre os riscos e benefícios atrelados a ela, com trabalhos apontando vastos benefícios da dieta e possível adaptação como base alimentar geral da população, enquanto outros alertam sobre os efeitos inconclusivos do Low Carb em longo prazo e os riscos que isso poderia acarretar à saúde. Assim, o presente trabalho buscou investigar os pontos levantados por essas pesquisas que indicam os reais benefícios e riscos do Low Carb para o emagrecimento e a saúde, com enfoque em doenças crônicas, analisando sua aplicabilidade, tempo de adoção para alcance de perda de peso e relevância no controle de algumas doenças. Trata-se de uma revisão de literatura do tipo narrativa, com compilação de pesquisas científicas de distintas bases de dados acadêmicas, com trabalhos publicados entre 2000 e 2019, visando esclarecer esses pontos conflituosos. Após a revisão, conclui-se que a dieta Low Carb é eficiente no emagrecimento e no controle de variados parâmetros bioquímicos, mas há a necessidade de mais estudos que investiguem a permanência dos benefícios e análise de seus efeitos colaterais em longo prazo.
