Estudo clínico sobre os efeitos da curcumina associada à piperina na redução dos sintomas da síndrome pré-menstrual (SPM) e em parâmetros de estresse oxidativo e inflamação

A Síndrome Pré-Menstrual (SPM) se refere a um conjunto de sintomas somáticos, psiquiátricos, cognitivos e comportamentais que aparecem antes da menstruação. Nas últimas décadas, tem havido um interesse considerável nos compostos ativos da cúrcuma para a redução de sintomas da SPM. Assim, este estudo teve por objetivo avaliar o efeito da suplementação com curcumina associada à piperina nos sintomas gerais da SPM e sua capacidade antioxidante e anti-inflamatória. Trata-se de um estudo clínico randomizado, duplo-cego, controlado por placebo, com amostra de 26 mulheres, com idade entre 20 e 45 anos. As participantes foram alocadas aleatoriamente para curcumina mais piperina (n = 13) e placebo (n = 13). Cada uma recebeu uma cápsula (100 mg de curcumina + 5 mg de piperina, ou placebo) a cada 12h, no período de 7 dias antes do início da menstruação até 3 dias após, durante dois ciclos menstruais consecutivos. As participantes forneceram informações sobre sintomas, dieta e outros fatores por questionário e/ou medição direta; além disso, dados antropométricos foram coletados. Amostras de sangue em jejum na fase lútea foram coletadas e as mulheres receberam planos alimentares individualizados. Enzimas como a Superóxido dismutase (SOD) e Glutationa peroxidase (GPx), Tiol, bem como hemograma completo, foram quantificados. Após dois ciclos consecutivos, o tratamento com curcumina + piperina demonstrou uma redução significativa dos sintomas gerais, psiquiátricos, comportamentais, somáticos e cognitivos, de mulheres com SPM em comparação ao placebo, mas sem diferenças estatísticas para parâmetros de estresse oxidativo e inflamação. Ambos os grupos tiveram uma redução significativa das concentrações da GPx após 2 meses de dieta mediterrânea.
