Abstract

The following article focuses on studying the activities developed by first year students of secondary school (Ensino Médio) from Colégio de Aplicação (CA) during a supervised internship called Estágio Curricular Supervisionado III that took part on the second semester of 2015. The paper aims to identify how students perceived women as part of the Brazilian Empire society on the second half of the nineteenth century through iconography, as these representations carry forward an imaginary about the past, now analyzed with questions of the present. Furthermore, it is understood that this paper corroborates to the valorization of the students’ work and also on how iconography may help with history teaching in the classroom.
