Abstract

This article delves into the analysis of the ethical foundations and practical consequences of speciesism, a discriminatory practice between humans and non-human animals based on species. The philosophical and ethical debate, influenced by thinkers such as Peter Singer, encompasses practical issues like dietary choices and research methods, with reflections on their impact on animal welfare, the environment, and human health. The study aims to guide towards more ethical practices and a more harmonious coexistence, questioning why speciesism should not be desirable in the construction of a compassionate, fair, and sustainable society, especially in light of Singer's argument.

Keywords: Anti-speciesism, Peter Singer, speciesism, ethics, animal ethics.
