Socio-community development:
a look at the Lajedos project, in Cape Verde

Inscribed in the disciplinary framework of education sciences, this article emerges as part of a case study on the Lajedos Community Development Project, in Cape Verde. The investigation sought to grasp the educative dimensions observed in the development process and development itself as an educational process, based on references from the theoretical universe of approaches to development. Herein, the work undertaken by the Cape Verdean non-governmental organization (NGO) Atelier Mar is presented and the dimensions through which the educative domain is observed in this work, from the pedagogical to the political, from the economic to the sociocultural, in addition to the context of action, the theoretical foundations guided by various concepts of development, and the concepts related to education and their implications in socio-community dynamics. The action is addressed in view of its various nuances in promoting participatory socio-community development and meaningful collective learning for all those involved.
