Abstract

This paper presents an experience report carried out during the Supervised Internship II, in the first semester of 2025, in the English Language Teaching Degree Program at the State University Vale do Acaraú (UVA). The internship was conducted in a private school located in Sobral, which serves middle school classes, specifically the 6th and 7th grades. The main objective was to observe English language lessons, understanding the interaction between teacher and students, school organization, and the processes that contribute to the development of teaching practice. The methodology involved direct observation of classes, monitoring of management actions, participation in pedagogical meetings, and practical teaching through classroom instruction. The results showed challenges such as the need to develop effective classroom management skills and adapt pedagogical strategies to the specificities of each group. It was also found that it is essential to make activities and formative assessments more flexible to ensure accessibility and meaningful learning. The internship provided an enriching experience, enabling interaction with teachers, students, and interns, and promoting a comprehensive understanding of school functioning and the role of the English teacher as a cultural mediator and promoter of critical thinking and meaningful learning.
