Guia Ilustrado de Nymphalidae (Lepidoptera) da Coleção Zoológica da Universidade Federal de Goiás (ZUFG)

Abstract
Butterflies play an important role in plant pollination and are among the most admired insects’ groups. Through zoological collections, it is possible to study and preserve local biodiversity. In this context, an illustrated guide was elaborated featuring the Nymphalidae species housed in the Zoological Collection of the Federal University of Goiás (ZUFG). The collection contains 604 pinned specimens belonging to 57 genera of nymphalid, collected from 11 municipalities in the state of Goiás, Brazil. All species were illustrated and available information on their known biology was included in a guide written in Portuguese language, aiming to broaden the knowledge preserved within the university and make it accessible to the general public, especially to elementary and high school students.
