ANIMAL INTERACTION: THE IMPORTANCE OF ENVIRONMENTAL ENRICHMENT FOR AQUATIC ANIMALS

This article refers to an environmental enrichment (EA) work carried out during the postgraduate internship in marine biology of the present author, who interned at a zoo in Fortaleza and carried out environmental enrichment (EA) work with cagados of the species Amazon turtles, Brazilian water tiger, red water tiger, cagado cabeçudo, muçuã and aparema and two tinga alligators. Four stimulations were carried out, three with tortoises and one with alligators, with the alligators the introduction of artificial water lilies was made - (VRA) and with the cagados the insertion of water lilies, fruit skewers and bundles of feed, it was noticed that the EA is essential for the animal to continue its cognitive, perceptive, hunting and mating activities even in captivity, EA contributes to the animal in captivity not being stressed or idle.
