We refer to the notion of "failed mothers" in women of the Chilean Revolutionary Left Movement MIR (1965-1987), through the analysis of testimonies about how they lived their motherhood in the militant period. The concept alludes to the one of "malasmadres" used by Marcela Lagarde to refer to those that fail to fulfill the most rigid and unquestionable mandate of the hegemonic femininity: THE maternity. This, understand as an abstract ideal that none of the real mothers can meet, and of which these militants moved away. On the one hand, by been dissatisfied with the mere reproduction and upbringing of their children, longing for and choosing a project for themselves: the revolution. And, on the other, by prioritizing the political project before the hegemonic maternity, proven by the decision to leave their children in the care of others or making them part of the dangers of militancy. This dissonant option with the mandated, had specific costs for these militants, by beeing used by the repression to torment them.
