Abstract

The present article, in general terms, propose to understand the garment as a symbol of distinction between the masculine and feminine genders. In particular, we started with the 2449 order of July 2016 published by D. Pedro II College, located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, which ended the use of the skirt as an exclusive clothing for students. We will start from the assumption that the determination where the skirt is placed as a feminine clothing is a reflection of the symbols, norms and discourses constructed and diffused by the society that was reflected in the middle of this Teaching Institution.
