Performed in the city of Rio de Janeiro between 1966 and 1972, the Festival Internacional da Canção was a competition of national and international songs, whose strategy is to released new artists, musics, composers and bands group, genres, styles and rhythms, fueling the cultural industry, that was consolidated in a period of the success of brazilian popular music. Therefore, this article porpose a shot analysis of the brazilian phase of the seven editions of the Festival Internacional da Canção, not as a tourist attraction of the “cidade maravilhosa” – idea for which the concept was conceived, but as an event and test for the released of new product of the brazilian music industry.
