Abstract

The main objective of the article is to describe the importance of the Guaporé Colony, associated with the port of Muçum during the third period of the Italian colonization in Rio Grande do Sul. This colony covered a large territory formed by several districts interconnected with the Guaporé headquarters. The place served as a stopping and resting place for the carts and traders laden with agricultural products, bound for the port of Mucum, where these goods were disposed of, and certain items not produced by the farmers were bought. A network of friendship and interest ties formed around the businessmen who circulated throughout the Italian colonies, as a central point in the Busato family, promoting marriage-initiated associations extended to commercial houses, and later industries, which were important to the Settlement Region. From Rio Grande do Sul, from 1906 to 1970. To be possible, we made use of the methods of Italian microhistory and oral history.
