Abstract

The article aims to present contemporary reflections on the field of Cultural History, its themes and preferred sources, going through its basic theoretical and methodological questions. In this way, it goes deep in the History of the Sensitivities and is exemplified with materials from the historian Sandra Jatahy Pesavento's archives, that is in custody of the Historical and Geographical Institute of Rio Grande do Sul. Historian and producer of this collection (intellectual personal archive), she developed in 40 years of work a vast and important work for our historiography (Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul and Brazil), moving from Economic History of Marxist bias to Cultural History, whose axes / thematic fields especially in the latter approached questions about the urban, images, the relation between History and Literature, and the field of Sensitivities. In this article, we try to discuss the contours and the relevance that Cultural History assumes in her work, besides emphasizing her role for the diffusion and consolidation of Cultural History in Brazil, creating a fecund field of studies and researches.
