COLONIES VERSUS PUBLIC AGENTS
CONFLICTS IN SUPPLY OF "RATIONS" AT THE BEGINNING OF THE REPUBLIC IN PARÁ
Keywords:
Settlers, Legislation, Conflicts, StatesAbstract
The objective of this article is to analyze several conflicts between settlers and public authorities in the beginning of the Republic due to non - compliance with the legislation that regulated the delivery of food to the settlers in the various agricultural centers created along the Bragantina, Pará. Between the 1870s and 1910s, the various agricultural nuclei were created by the Pará authorities, as well as a set of laws that defined the rights and duties of the individuals involved in colonization projects, national or foreign settlers. These conflicts reveal an incongruity between the state, through its representatives in each colonial nucleus, and the occupants of the spaces destined to increase agricultural production. In addition to periodicals and messages from governors, other sources were also used in these analyzes, such as reports from the Secretariat of Works, Public, Land and Road, as well as offices and petitions of the same public office.
