Abstract

The analysis of this article is focused on policies to combat droughts in the state of Ceará, especially in the second government of Getúlio Vargas (1951-1954) and Juscelino Kubitschek's (1956-1961) mandate, based on the tripod: water, electric power and infrastructure of roads and highways. In this context, we will investigate the specific case of the Araras weir and the performance of the National Department of Works Against Droughts (DNOCS) in this set of actions of the Public Power.
