The objective of the present text is to make some considerations about the trajectory of a memory space about German immigration in the South of Brazil and the changes occurred in the mentality and approaches given to its documentary collection, especially in recent years. This change is closely linked to the very redefinition of the history of German immigration, with new approaches and theoretical and methodological perspectives on the subject. From this perspective, it is necessary, besides analyzing the processes that implied in these changes of discourses and perceptions, also to provide qualified subsidies for the own historicization of this collection of the place where it is safeguarded, since in many cases the information on the acquisition and structuring of these collections are scarce or contradictory.
