Abstract

This article aims to present a debate about the folias de santo, as an ethnic trait of Afro-Brazilian culture, from the perspective of the populations classified as traditional, in Óbidos, in the State of Pará. It also intends to reflect on the historical perspectives around the concept of traditional population, folia and its characterization, in Obidos and, finally, to emphasize the differentiation between folias de santo and feast of the patron saint in the community.
