The present article tries to understand the daily practices, in Fortaleza, in the decade of 1920. For this work one made use of the first modernist publication in Ceará (O Canto Novo da Raça), of 1927. Book of collective character, made by four novice writers. He has embedded in his brochure various facets of the city, as well as gestures, acts, customs, sensibilities, expectations, criticisms and perceptions. At a time that leapt in the eyes of these writers the tension between tradition and modernity, as well as experienced subjectively these novelties. We will analyze the poems present in the book, trying to make a connection between form, content and the context of the time.
