Keywords:

The principles of "objectivity" and "impartiality" in journalism are historic constructions linked to the adequacy of the journalistic language, to new industry standards and the needs of the consumer society. In this perspective, focusing on the arising of O Povo newspaper, this work presents a discussion on the development of Ceará’s journalistic activity in the 1920s and 1930s. The intention is to analyze the journalistic relations between the paradigms "opinionative" and "informative". It is worth noting that, at that context, the journalism draw faint lines between the paradigms of "information" and "opinion" . but the predominant paradigma was, however, the "opinionative". This is due since the journalistic activity had, above all, a political-partisan and the production standards of the emerging informative journalism were still not consolidated.
