Abstract

Middle East has never had a leading role within the Argentinean international policy agenda. Moreover, among the nations that are part of that space contacts with the Gulf monarchies have been particularly bounded. In this context, it draws our attention the rapprochement between Argentina and the Gulf monarchies that took place during the government of Cristina Fernandez (2007-2015). In fact, these governments of Frente Para la Victoria coincide with a period in which we can find a marked increase in contacts with the before mentioned actors which is reflected in both a deepening of politic-diplomatic and economic ties, and in progress in terms of technological cooperation in strategic areas, particularly in the nuclear field. In this context, we propose to describe the evolution of the growing technological cooperation in the nuclear field between Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates and to analyze the factors that explain this development during the period extending from 2007 to 2015.
