CONSTRUCTION OF SOCIAL SPACE IN THE SHORT STORY "UMA ESPÉCIE DE HERANÇA", BY CINTIA MOSCOVICH.

Abstract

This paper examines space’s relations in Cintia Moscovich’s tale “Uma forma de herança”, published in Essa coisa brilhante que é a chuva (2012, Prêmio Portugal Telecom finalist). She is a gaúcha writer of Jewish origin. It is proposed a reading in which that space (the house that the main character receives as heritage) is a metaphor alluding to Jewish heritage in an attempt to understand how to deal with this in these times. This analysis deals with conceptions as utopia and heterotopia, by Michel Foucault, and with the habitus conception in construction of space by Pierre Bourdieu.
