This text aims to introduce a short analysis on the teaching of history of education and the history of black people in Brazil from the historical assumptions regarding the empirical basis on history of education in teacher-training courses. Toward this end, I examined very carefully the curriculum of the course of Pedagogy offered by the Federal University of Bahia with special attention on the discipline History of Brazilian Education. Straight afterward, it is drawn a theoretical framework from the jesuitic age to the implementation of the 10.639 law, sanctioned by the former president of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on January 9, 2003. My main object is to put emphasis on the permanence of slavery in Brazilian culture and politics which was specifically drawn to undermine the right to achieve citizenship through education from the freed black Brazilians.
