The film productions are laden with "agoras" because they themselves the burden of representations of livings and anguishes, producing, setting up and organizing people's experiences. In this sense, one of the largest producers of representations in the cinema of the twentieth century was Charles Chaplin, who through his works showed the organization of society in which he lived, the difficulties that the lower classes of people faced and the pursuit of happiness. The article discusses present aspects of the world of work in Western society represented in one of the most representative works of Chaplin, namely Modern Times (1936). The film is full of representations, as it is a document of their own time, a testimony that can and should be used as a means of historical discussion and representation, that is what is intended here.
