ONE DECADE TO GO DOWN IN HISTORY OF EMBROIDERY FROM PASSIRA-PE
Keywords:
Oral History, Embroidery Manual, Fair Embroidery ManualAbstract
Between 1980 and 1990 many events marked the history of manual embroidery practice in Passira-PE municipality, such as the opening of the annual fair of the manual embroidery, the establishment of the first cooperative city embroiderers and unprecedented interference of public administration in development activity. This article brings the narrative of these events through the documentary research and the use of the method of oral history discussed by Meihy and Holland (2013), implemented in interviews with some characters who worked directly on those events. Also on their theoretical and methodological basis, we quote Barros (2008), Gil (2007) and Vieira (2007). And finally we consider that, beyond the narrative built here, there are other issues to be investigated and reflected in the trajectory of these embroiderers and this manual embroidery.
